The Indian Stock Market has drawn widespread attention of the international financial community. The growing interest in the Indian stock market necessitates the need for a more thorough understanding of the behavior of stock markets in India. The USA continues to be the global engine for growth and as its economy slows, the effect will be felt by other economies (including India) globally. However, the impact on the growth rate of the Indian economy should be muted due to the high level of organic internal growth. But the Indian stock market will be buffeted by wide swings in the short term as foreign investors and speculators liquidate their holdings in the Indian capital market. Against this background this study documents the recent volatility in international capital markets and its impact on Indian capital market with an expatriate’s perspective.
